CLIVE VINCENT JACHNIK
A British artist, Clive Vincent Jachnik grew up near Liverpool and later attended university in Scotland and England.Initially producing prolific bodies of work as a pictorialist photographer, Clive has had over twenty solo exhibitions several of which toured widely across Europe.
As a painter, Clive trained in Glasgow and is a follower of the `Scottish Colourist` tradition of painters first established in the early 20th century there. The close influence and mentoring of renowned Scottish artists such as Alberto Morrocco, John Cunningham and James Orr can be seen in Clive’s bold use of colour, free brush strokes and strong geometric compositions.
Over the past thirty years, Clive’s work has focused upon the traditional subject matter of still life, landscape and plein aire painting drawn from his extensive travels throughout some of the less-visited corners of the world. His treatment of regular subject matter such as maritime scenes, outdoor markets and intimate domestic gatherings yield a feeling of relaxed intimacy that is delivered through simple, balanced drawing and joyous colour. In 2023, Clive enjoyed the distinction of Best in Show at the Penrod Art Festival in Indianapolis. And more recently, this year, he received the Raymond F. Turner ETHOS Memorial Best in Show Award in Franklin, IN
Having been granted a UK Arts Council Bursary in 1992, Clive has also received two exhibition awards as a sponsored artist during Glasgow's European City of Culture Festival in 1990. As a painter, Clive has shown his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and began exhibiting in the United States in 2010. A regular exhibitor at the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Clive was elected an Artist Member of the Paisley Art Institute in 1997.
A 20 year veteran of the UK Royal Navy, Clive achieved Commander rank serving as a United Nations and NATO peacekeeper in Africa and Europe. He then served for 12 years as a civilian peacebuilder with the United Nations and UK government in over 20 African and Asian countries in conflict. Clive’s peacebuilding experiences feature regularly in his artwork often highlighting the positive effects of humanitarianism as countries, communities and individuals recover from the ravages of war.
Clive lives in Cicero Indiana and paints full time although he continues to advise on peacebuilding and conflict stabilization upon occasion.

Karen Glanders
Karen’s journey has been one of soul searching, exploring emotions, nature, and spirituality. She attended Herron School of Fine Art and has worked out of her studio since 1998. Her love for tactile material and texture continues to grow and evolve in all of her work.
Painting has been the primary focus in her work but over the course of the last two decades, she has enjoyed the exploration of mosaics and ceramics too.
Artist Statement
My work is a reflection of the search for my spiritual devotion and responsibility in the world today. For 25 years my work has been moved, and is a continuous evolution, by my journey of faith. For the past 5 years I have strived to surrender what I think I know and opening myself up to a new experience and the unknown. I am tired of having the last word. I feel 95 percent of who I am lies beneath the surface of my conscience, which I do not know and have come to accept I do not understand. I am of the belief that that goodness in the vast ocean that lies below is my Higher Power that I would like to know better and I’d like to let him be the one that speaks for me.
My expression has been explored and discovered through mosaics, ceramics and painting.
